Brazil: Safrinha Crop Forecast Has Been Increased

Conab analysers increased their safrinha crop forecast in Brazil this season by 2.5 mln tons to 58.59 mln tons, which is 44% more than last year.

The correction was made because of the expected larger areas and bigger yield. 10% of the planned areas have already been planted in the key regions. Sowing will be over at the end of March.

Corn crop in Brazill will be 87.4 mln tons in 2016 - 2017 versus 84.5 mln tons in the previous season.

FAS USDA estimates that 6.5 mln tons of wheat will be imported in Brazil in the current season , which is 4% less than 2015 – 2016. Wheat import from the USA is expected to increase over three times to 1.3 mln tons, which is the best result since 2013 – 2014. 658,586 tons of American wheat were imported in Brazil between October and November. Demand is high considering the good quality.
