Canadian millers have processed 1.557 mln tons of wheat and produced 1.185 mln tons of flour in the first six months of the current season, Statistics Canada reported.

1.547 mln tons of wheat were processed in the same period of the previous season and 1.182 mln tons of flour obtained.

Egyptian authorities will ban wheat import from private entities between April 15 and June 15, 2017. The purchase campaign for new yield wheat will be carried out in that period and estimated 4.5 mln tons of wheat will be purchased. It was announced that the State Company GASC will carry on with the wheat import in the same period. The government has secured funds for the purchase of 4 mln tons of wheat from the local farmers.

Algeria has announced an auction for the purchase of at least 50,000 tons of hard wheat of random origin and a delivery in the scond half of May.

According to FAS USDA's latest forecast, wheat import in Ecuador will reach a record high level in the next season due the growing domestic demand. Wheat demand in the country will reach 1.01 mln tons (970,000 tons in 2016 – 2017) while import will be 1.005 mln tons (975,000). Canada will be the biggest supplier.

Grain export from Kazakhstan will be 8.96 mln tons in 2016 – 2017 or a 16% growth versus 2015 – 2016 according to FAO's latest forecast.
