MARS: Grains Production In The EU Will Be Above The Average Level In The Current Season

Monitoring Agricultural ResourceS (MARS) has published its first forecast on the production of various grains in the EU in the current season.

The average grain production will be 3.2% higher than the average for the past five years. Winter grains are in good condition now despite the freezing temperatures in January and February. Generally, the future of the oncoming yield remain favourable.

The average grain production for the past five years has been 5,290 kg/hectare; it was 5,250 kg/ha in 2016, and the estimate for 2017 is 5,460 kg/hectare. The numbers for wheat were 5,600 / 5,370 / 5,760, for barley 4,820 / 4,870 / 4,890, for corn 6,900 / 7,490 / 7,120, for sunflower 1,940 / 2,030 / 2,100 and for rapeseed 3,260 / 3,080 / 3,290.
