On May 18th, 2017 Tunisia purchased 92,000 tonnes of soft wheat for July - August shipment, at price 181.74 – 189.99 USD/mt, C&F.

Since the beginning of the purchase campaign, the Egyptian State Fund concluded contracts for delivery of 2 mln. tonnes of wheat from local farmers.

According to the FAS USDA forecast, in the new season, grain yield in Latvia will amount to 2.758 mln. tonnes, which is 0.75 mln. tonnes more than 2016. Wheat yield will amount to 2.1 mln. tonnes (+ 0.6%). In 2016 - 2017 export of grains from the country will be 2,527 mln. tonnes, incl. wheat - 2.25 mln. tonnes.

Saudi Arabia has announced an auction for the purchase of 1.5 mln. tonnes of barley.

Japan has purchased 115,500 tonnes of wheat from the United States and Canada for shipment from July 21st  to August 20th, 2017.

According to forecast of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, in the current year wheat yields  in the country will be 3.65 mln. tonnes, which will cover domestic consumption at 80%.

In the first quarter of 2017, 4.752 mln. tonnes of wheat flour were produced in the United States, almost unchanged from last year. In 2016, 19.2 mln. tonnes of wheat flour were produced in the country.

According to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, in 2017, areas sown with the main grain crops (wheat, barley and oats) will grow by 5.3% to 524.3 thousand ha. Areas under winter wheat cultivation will grow by 0.9% to 3.16 mln. ha. Corn areas fell by 5.7% to 392 thousand ha and areas under winter barley cultivation by 2.3% to 1.23 mln. ha. Areas under rapeseed cultivation decrease by 1% to 1.31 mln. ha.

Jordan cancelled a tender for the purchase of 100,000 tonnes of feed barley.
