Egypt purchased 410,000 tonnes of Russian and Romanian wheat (addition)
On July 5th 2017, Egypt's state owned company bought 350,000 tonnes of Russian wheat and 60,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat.

The Egyptian strategic wheat stocks will be able to meet the needs of the country for 5 months. In 2016 - 2017 GASC purchased 6.752 million tonnes of wheat. From the beginning of 2017 - 2018., 1.317 million tonnes of wheat have already been purchased.

Egypt refuses to accept 60,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat because of ergot content of over 0.05%. The batch will be delivered to Spain.

In 2017 - 2018 Egypt may reduce import of yellow corn to 7 million tonnes given 8.5 million tonnes in 2016-2017, according to a forecast by the Ministry of Agriculture of the country. The price of corn in the new season guaranteed by the state will be 190.48 USD / mt given 95 USD / mt in the current season. The crop is expected to rise to 525,000 tonnes (210,000).
