Statistics Canada's latest report

According to Statistics Canada's latest report, canola crop in Canada in 2017 – 2018 will reach 19.7 million tonnes, by 0.5% more than the previous season.

The record is at the expense of expanded areas under cultivation to a maximum of 22.8 million acres (+ 13.8%). Yields, however, are lower than last year.

A record crop of soybean is expected in the new season - 8.3 million tonnes (+ 28.8%), mainly due to an increase of 34.6% to 7.2 million acres. Average soybean yield will increase by 4.3% to 42.2 bushels / acre.

More than half of the Canadian soybean will be harvested in the Ontario Province at 4.1 million tonnes, at yield 49.3 bushels / acre (+ 7.4%).

In 2017 wheat crop in Canada will drop by 14.5% from last year to 27.1 million tonnes.

The spring wheat crop will be 20.1 million tonnes (-1.8%), with area growth of 8%. Yield will be 47.1 bushels / acre (-9.2%).

Durum crop will drop by 44.6% year-on-year to 4.3 million tonnes, areas decline by 12.9% and yield by 36.5% to 31 bushels / acre.
