Grain Highlights

According to preliminary data of Rusagrotrans, the record 5.1 million tonnes of grain were exported from Russia in September, incl. 4.2 million tonnes of wheat, 550,000 tonnes of barley and 320,000 tonnes of corn.

Wheat

- After many attempts, Jordan purchased 50,000 tonnes of milling wheat at price of 229 USD / mt and for February shipment.

- According to a Reuters research, wheat crop in Australia will reach 20.15 million tonnes, which is 7% below the official estimate.

- Japan purchased 109,906 tonnes of wheat from the United States and Canada for shipment from November 21 until December 20, 2017.

- According to Dereal forecast, wheat harvesting in the Brazilian state of Parana is completed on 65%, which is below the five-year average. The forecast for crop yields in the state is lowered by 300,000 tonnes to 2.3 million tonnes. In 2016 the wheat crop was 3-48 million tonne.

- Japan announced a tender for the purchase of 120,000 tonnes of wheat and 200,000 tonnes of feed barley.

 

Grains

- According to preliminary data of Rusagrotrans, the record 5.1 million tonnes of grain  were exported from Russia in September, incl. 4.2 million tonnes of wheat, 550,000 tonnes of barley and 320,000 tonnes of corn.

- According to data from Russagrotrans, from the beginning of the season until September 27, 2017 11.7 million tonnes of grain (+ 24%) were exported from Russia, incl. wheat 9 million tonnes (+ 16%), barley 1.9 million tonnes (+ 150%), corn 777,000 tonnes (+ 200%). It is expected that during the season the export of grain from Russia will exceed 43 million tonnes (35.5).

- Until October 3, 2017 in Ukraine, 42.1 million tonnes of grain from 10.9 million hectares were harvested at an average yield of 3.85 mt/ ha.

- Until October 5, 2017. in Russia, 127.6 million tonnes of grain (90.3% of the area) were harvested at an average yield of 3.0 mt/ ha (2.6 mt/ ha a year earlier). The wheat harvested is 85.4 million tonnes.

- Turkey announced a tender for the purchase of 96,000 tonnes of feed barley for shipment  October 24  - November 7, 2017.

 

Oil crops and vegetable oils

- Until October 3, 2017. 8.4 million tonnes of sunflower are harvested in Ukraine at an average yield of 1.9 mt / ha and 1.9 million tonnes of soybean at an average yield of 1.79 mt/ ha.

- During the period January - September 2017.59,350 tonnes of sunflower are exported from Ukraine. In September, export reached 2,340 tonnes. The major customers are Turkey, Germany and Italy.

- Until October 5, 2017. in Russia, 4.5 million tonnes of sunflower (31.5% of the area) are harvested at an average yield of 1.85 mt/ ha (1.85).

- According to SovEcon, sunflower crop in Russia during the season will reach 10.4 million tonnes, which is 1.1 million tonnes less than the previous forecast. Reduction is due to lower yields.

- According to a survey by Reuters, at the end of September, Malaysian palm oil stocks grew by 3.2% over the end of August, reaching 2 million tonnes, the highest level since February 2016 up to date.

- According to Oil World, in September, 4.27 million tonnes of soybean were exported from Brazil given 5.9 million tonnes in August, a record high for the month. The export of soybean oil was only 20,000 tonnes at 147,000 tonnes in September 2016. The export of soybean meal was 1.16 million tonnes (0.9 million tonnes in September 2016). Between January and September, 61.17 million tonnes of soybean (49.6), 1.07 million tonnes of soybean oil (1.09) and 11.15 million tonnes of soybean meal (11.8) were exported from Brazil.
