Grain Highlights

In August 2017 France exported 1.374 million tonnes of soft wheat, which is 19.4% more than July and 52.5% more than August 2016. For Algeria have been exported 535,720 tonnes of wheat (+270%).

                                                          Wheat

- Iraq plans to reduce the areas with ​​wheat from 2018 crop down to 1.6 million hectares of the current 1.8 million hectares, according to data from the Ministry of Health of the country.
- According to information from TRANSAGENT, 480,812 tonnes of grain were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk during the week 2nd-8th October. A week earlier, the port had hardly worked because of the poor weather conditions. 408,762 tonnes of wheat, 15,000 tonnes of barley and 57,050 tonnes of corn were exported.
- Jordan has announced a tender for the purchase of 100,000 tonnes of durum wheat and 100,000 tonnes of feed barley with delivery January - February 2018.

- Wheat stocks in Pakistan reached a historic maximum of 9 million tonnes. The domestic price is 300 USD / tonne, which does not allow export.

Grain

- Bangladesh purchased 465,000 tonnes of rice from Thailand at a price of 465 USD / tonne C & F and 100,000 tonnes from India at a price of 455 USD / tonne C & F.
- The Russian Ministry of Health prepares support meeasures for the rail transport support to the seaports for 500,000 tonnes of grain.
- In August, France exported 505,890 tonnes of feed barley, which is 180% more than July and 74% more than in August 2016. The biggest buyer outside the EU is Saudi Arabia 178,808 tonnes and in the EU - Belgium with 101,180 tonnes.
- On Saturday, many of the US ports in the Gulf of Mexico were shut off in anticipation of the Hurricane Nate.

- The sowing of soybeans in the Paraná state of Brazil is completed on  16% of the planned area, the swing of corn at 33%. 64% of the areas with corn are in good condition, in satisfactory condition- 30% and in poor condition -5%. This state is Brazil's second biggest soybean producer.

 

Oil crops and vegetable oils

- Iran failed to buy 200,000 tonnes of soybean meal from Argentina or Brazil with delivery in the middle of October 2017 - February 2018.
- In 2016 - 2017, 5.84 million tonnes of sunflower oil were exported from Ukraine, which is 30.4% more than in the previous year. During the season, sunflower oil production in the country was 6.27 million tonnes - a record-high result. Exports of refined sunflower oil increased by 260% to 478,700 tonnes.
- In 2016 - 2017 the export of sunflower meal from Ukraine reached 4.73 million tonnes, which is 25% more than in 2015-2016.
- In the week ended on 06.10.2017,  FOB price of the soybean oil from Ukraine increased by 5-10 USD / tonne compared to the previous week up to 740 - 760 USD / tonne.

- According to the forecast of Oil World, in 2017 - 2018 the soybeans crop in the US will reach 119 million tonnes, which is 2.1 million tonnes more than in the previous year. US soybeans ending stocks will be 13.2 million tonnes (+5), exports 58 million tonnes (59.19), and processing - 52.8 million tonnes (51.68).
- According to the forecast of some market participants, in 2017 - 2018 the soybeans crop in Brazil will reach 109.980 million tonnes at 110.6 million tonnes in 2016-2017. The areas with soybeans will be 34.77 million hectares (33.91).
