Grain Highlights 01.04.2021

According to USDA data, as of 01.03.2021, #wheat stocks in the US were 35.7 million tons, which is +3.3% more than expected and 7.2% less than 01.03.2020.

- According to the USDA forecast, in 2021, corn areas in the United States will reach 91.144 million acres, which will be the highest level since 2016. The soybean areas will be 87.6 million tons, which will be the highest figure since 2018.

- According to USDA data, as of 01.03.2021, wheat stocks in the US were 35.7 million tons, which is +3.3% more than expected and 7.2% less than 01.03.2020. Corn stocks will be 195.6 million tons (-0.9% and -3.2%), and soybean stocks are expected to reach 42.5 million tons (+ 1.9% and -30.7%).

- According to the forecast of APC - Inform, the ending grain stocks in Ukraine for 2020/21 will reach 5.7 million tons (4.9 million tons in 2019/20).

- In March, 937,700 tons of soft wheat were exported from France outside the EU, including 348,400 tons from Morocco, 240,900 tons from Algeria and 126,000 tons from Egypt.

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 35,000 contracts of corn, 32,500 contracts of soybeans and 13,000 contracts of wheat.

- In 2021, the grain production in Morocco will reach 9.5 million tons, which is 3 times more than in 2020. In 2020, the production was 3.2 million tons, which is 39% less than in 2019. In 2020/21, grain imports reached 3.6 million tons of soft wheat, 1.02 million tons of durum wheat and 1.02 million tons of barley.

- Saudi Arabia has purchased 295,000 tons of milling wheat with delivery in May-June.

- Algeria bought 500,000 - 580,000 tons of milling wheat of any origin at a price of 279 USD/ton C&F and delivery in May. Wheat has mainly been bought from Germany, France and Poland.
