A group of millers from Indonesia bought 120,000 tons of Black Sea wheat from the 2020 crop at a price within 280-290 USD/ton C&F and delivery in June.

- Rusagrotrans lowered its forecast for wheat exports from Russia in April from 0.9 million tons to 0.75 million tons due to weak market activity. Exports of barley will be 0.7 million tons (+0.2) and corn exports are predicted at 0.25 million tons. In March, 0.7 million tons of barley and a record 0.91 million tons of corn were exported from Russia.

- In their April forecast, analysts from Strategie Grains have raised their estimate for soft wheat exports from the EU in 2020/21 by 0.2 million tons to 25.4 million tons. The ending stocks are projected to reach 9.6 million tons. In 2021, the EU's soft wheat production is expected at 129.6 million tons (119.4) and ending stocks at 12.1 million tons (+2.5). The barley production is estimated at 54 million tons (55.4) and the corn production at 65.1 million tons (65 million tons in March and 62.5 million tons in 2020).

- On Thursday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 4,750 soybean contracts, 3,500 wheat contracts and net sellers of 1,500 corn contracts.

- During the week of April 5-11, 888,300 tons of cereals and oilseeds were exported from Canada, compared to 897,200 tons a week earlier. Exports:

  • canola - 109,700 tons (298,100)
  • wheat - 456,200 tons (335,700)
  • barley - 153,300 tons (51,100)
  • durum - 99,000 tons (71,000)
  • corn - 45,500 tons (33,000)

Since the beginning of the season, exports of cereals and oilseeds have reached a total of 37.7 million tons (28.8).

- According to data from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, rainfall in Argentina is delaying the harvesting campaign of sunseed. As of April 14, 2021, 1.2 million hectares have been harvested, which is 95.8% of the area and for the week the progress is only 1.8%. The sunseed production forecast remains unchanged at 2.7 million tons. 1.24 million hectares of the soybean areas have been harvested (7.2% of the area and +3.7% for the week) or a total of 3.81 million tons with an average yield of 3.06 tons/hectare. The soybean production is expected to reach 43 million tons. 886,700 hectares (1.42% and +2.2%) of corn were harvested, 7.19 million tons of corn were harvested at an average yield of 8.11 tons/hectare. The forecast for the corn production has been increased by 1 million tons to 46 million tons compared to 51.5 million tons in 2019/20.

- In February, 2.685 million tons of wheat were exported from Australia, which is 12% more than in January. The main buyers were Indonesia with 419,730 tons, Vietnam with 327,566 tons, the Philippines with 231,204 tons and Thailand with 167,740 tons. The export of durum wheat reached 98,700 tons, including 84,400 tons for Italy.

- In the first half of April, exports of palm oil from Malaysia increased by 6 - 15% compared to the the same period last month. This is the key reason for the rise in palm oil price over the past week.

- The Egyptian state company GASC has purchased 30,000 tons of soyoil at a price of 1,250 USD/ton and delivery within June 1-20.
