- As of June 10, 2021, 6.4 million hectares of sunseed have been sown in Ukraine. In 2020, the sunseed areas reached a total of 6.383 million hectares and now the sowing campaign continues.
- On Friday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 15,000 contracts of corn, 15,000 contracts of soybeans and 3,000 contracts of wheat.
- Conab has lowered its forecast for the second corn crop in Brazil to 70 million tons (-9.8 million tons compared to the previous estimate and -5.1 million tons compared to 2019/20). The total corn production is projected at 96.4 million tons (102.6 million tons in 2019/20). Corn exports will be 29.5 million tons (35) and corn imports are expected at 2.3 million tons (1.5). Domestic corn consumption is predicted to reach 72.1 million tons (68.7).
- Analysts from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange have raised their forecast for the corn production in Argentina in 2021 to 48 million tons from 46 million tons in the previous estimate. In 2020, corn production in Argentina was 51.5 million tons. As of 09.06.2021, 38% of the planned areas have been harvested, 19.61 million tons of corn have been harvested with an average yield of 8.34 tons/hectare. 80% of the unharvested crops are in good and fair condition (86% a week earlier and 90% a year earlier). Soybeans were harvested on 16.13 million hectares out of a total of 16.31 million hectares. 43.13 million tons of soybeans were harvested at an average yield of 2.67 tons/hectare. Wheat is sown on 37% of the planned areas (42% in 2020 and 36% on average for the last five years).
- In May, India increased palm oil imports to 769,600 tons, which is 92% more than in May 2020. Imports of soyoil reached 267,800 tons (+43%) and sunseed oil imports reached 175,700 tons (+31%). Imports are expected to remain high in June, given the end of the coronavirus pandemic.
