- Over the period of 01.07.2021 - 13.01.2022, grain exports from Russia reached 24.3 million tons (-24.4% compared to the previous year). Wheat exports amounted to 20.3 million tons (-23.8%), barley exports were 2.7 million tons (-32.1%), corn exports reached 1.1 million tons (-24.3%). According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of the country, total grain exports will be 45 - 48 million tons in 2021/22 (49), including wheat exports of 38.4 million tons.
- On Friday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 4,000 contracts of soybeans and 4,000 contracts of wheat and net buyers of 6,500 contracts of corn.
- In the week of January 3-9, exports of soft wheat from Canada reached 187,100 tons, which is 29% less than the previous week. Over the period of 01.08.2021 - 09.01.2022, soft wheat exports reached 5.2 million tons (8.2). The official forecast for exports in 2021/22 is 16.1 million tons (26.4).
- According to the forecast of Safras & Mercado, the soybean production in Brazil will be 132.33 million tons in 2021/22 (144.7 in the November estimate and 138.1 in 2020/21).
- Last week, Algeria bought 600,000 tons of wheat of any origin at a price of 348 - 350 USD/ton C&F and delivery within February - March 2022. At the previous tender, 250,000 tons of wheat were purchased. Most likely, the wheat was bought from Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Argentina.
