- According to the European Commission's forecast for 2022/23, EU wheat exports will be 40 million tons (33 in 2021/22). The soft wheat production in the new season will reach 131.3 million tons (130) and the ending stocks are expected at 12.2 million tons (13.2). Corn imports are estimated at 9 million tons (14) given the limited supply around the world.
- Over the week of March 28 - April 3, 2022, 174,300 tons of wheat were exported from the EU (148,800 a week earlier). Exports from Lithuania reached 53,400 tons. Exports from Latvia were 48,300 tons, 32,300 from Germany tons and 30,300 tons from France. Since the beginning of the season, exports from the EU reach 20.07 million tons (20.9), including 5.9 million tons from France, 5.3 million tons from Romania, 2.8 million tons from Germany, 1.6 million tons from Bulgaria, 1.28 million tons from Lithuania and 1.26 million tons from Latvia. The main buyers were Algeria with 2.96 million tons (-36% for the year), Egypt with 2.08 million tons (+367%), China with 2.04 million tons (+ 16%), Nigeria with 1.58 million tons (-15%) and Morocco with 867,600 tons (-57%).
- Over the period of February - March, precipitation in Ukraine was 20-40% of the norm and in the western regions it reached 50-70%.
- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 13,500 contracts of corn, 13,500 contracts of soybeans and 16,500 contracts of wheat.
- Analysts expect sunseed areas in the United States to increase by at least 20% given the interrupted supplies from Ukraine. The prices of sunseed from the new crop reaches 756 USD/ton, which is a new record.
- According to IMEA, the soybean production in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso could reach a new record of 39.2 million tons in 2021/22, which is 2.7 million tons more than the previous year. The corn production is projected at 40.4 million tons (+7.2).
- According to Conab, as of April 2, 2022, the harvesting campaign of soybeans in Brazil has been carried out on 81% of the areas (+5% for the week and 79% a year earlier). The sowing campaign of the second corn crop was completed on 100% of the planned areas (98% a year earlier), and the harvesting campaign of the first crop was done on 52% of the areas (51%).
- According to the FAS USDA forecast, the canola production in Australia will reach 4.7 million tons in 2022/23 (-26% compared to 2021/22), which will be the second highest result in histroy. Canola exports are expected to reach 3.6 million tons (-25%).
- According to LATT data, the supply of wheat to Egyptian ports reached 876,500 tons in March (467,050 in February). Deliveries from Russia were 479,020 tons (144,700), 117,500 tons from Ukraine (259,300), 217,000 tons from Romania (63,000) and 63,000 tons from France. Over the period of January - March, wheat improts were 1.28 million tons.
