- In 2022, wheat areas in France will reach 4.79 million hectares (-3.9% compared to 2021 and -0.7% compared to the average level for the last five years). The areas with spring barley are expected to reach 553,000 hectares (+4.1% compared to 2021). Spring rapeseed areas are estimated at 1.16 million hectares (+18.4%). The total rapeseed areas will decrease by 6.7%.
- Over April 7-8, 110,000 tons of wheat were exported from Kazakhstan. The average monthly export is around 400,000 tons. However, demand is now strong and prices are rising.
- At the end of last week, 32% of winter wheat crops were in good and excellent condition in the United States (30% a week earlier and 53% a year earlier). 6% of the planned areas have been sown with spring wheat, which is +3% more than the previous week. The campaign is delayed due to the cold and humid weather. 2% of the planned areas have been sown with corn - no change for the week (4% a year earlier).
- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 12,000 contracts and 1,000 contracts of corn and 14,500 contracts of soybeans.
- According to the FAS USDA forecast, the oilseeds production (sunseed, soybeans and rapeseed) in Canada will reach 25.7 million tons in 2022. Rapeseed processing capacity is growing. In 2025, it is projected to reach 17 million tons.
- Authorities in Morocco plan to increase wheat stocks. In 2021, the total cereals production reached 10.2 million tons. In 2022, the production of cereals is expected to reach 3 million tons.
