Grain Highlights 21.04.2023

Agritel forecast a 2023/24 Russian wheat production of 83.2 million tons. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia predicts a wheat production of 78 million tons (104.2 in 2022/23).

- During the week starting on 26.04.2023, the export tax on Russian wheat will be 5,759.5 rubles/ton (5,678.9 a week earlier). The export tax on barley will be 2,496 rubles/ton (2,480.7) and the export tax on corn will be 3,215.8 rubles/ton (3,729.2).

- From the beginning of the season to 21.04.2023, 40,557 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine (2,581 in April), including wheat exports of 13,904 million tons (906,000), barley exports of 2,424 million tons (148,000) and corn exports of 23,905 million tons (1,523).

- From March 2022 until now, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products by land through the EU reached 57 million tons worth 25 billion euros.

- According to Fedoil's estimate, soybean processing in the EU in March reached 1.2 million tons (+8% compared to February and -15% compared to March 2022). Rapeseed processing reached 1.6 million tons (+3% and +11%), and sunseed processing was 520,000 tons (+13% and +15%).

- In Spain, about 60% of arable land was damaged by drought, which led to the loss of crops on 3.5 million hectares.

- According to FranceAgriMer data, as of 04/07/2023, 93% of winter soft wheat crops in the France are in good and excellent condition (94% a week earlier and 91% a year earlier), as well as 91% of winter barley crops  (92% and 87%) and 90% of winter durum wheat crops (91% and 82%). 95% of the spring barley crops are in good and excellent condition (95% and +3%).

- Refinitiv Commodities Research has raised its forecast for the 2023/24 corn production in the United States by 3 million tons to 375 million tons (348.8 in 2022/23). Soybean production will be 122 million tons (+1 and +5.6).

- During the week of 25.04 - 01.05.2023, 79,000 tons of soybeans will be sent from Brazil to the USA.

- Egypt's state-owned company GASC has purchased 35,000 tons of sunseed oil at a price of 1,020 USD/ton against an initial demand of 10,000 tons. Soyoil was not purchased due to high prices.
