During the past week, 299,400 tons of wheat were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk (-22% compared to the previous week), including 194,400 tons to Egypt, 55,000 tons to Pakistan, and 50,000 tons to Bangladesh. Since the beginning of the year, wheat exports have reached 682,800 tons (726,800).
In the first half of January, Ukraine exported 2.097 million tons of grain (compared to 1.726 million the previous year), including 562,000 tons of wheat, 141,000 tons of barley, and 1.388 million tons of corn. Since the beginning of the season, exports have totaled 20.563 million tons (24.472), including 8.186 million tons of wheat, 1.215 million tons of barley, and 11.014 million tons of corn.
Harvesting of corn for the 2023 season continues in Ukraine. As of January 11, 2024, 3.643 million hectares have been harvested, yielding 28.368 million tons of grain, including 220,000 tons in the last two weeks. The total grain production is 58.611 million tons, and the oilseed crops yield 20.77 million tons, including 11.98 million tons of sunseed. The combined production of grain and oilseed crops is 79.38 million tons.
From the French port of Rouen, 123,020 tons of wheat were exported during the week of January 5-11 (+16% compared to the previous week), including 90,020 tons to Algeria and 33,000 tons to Morocco. La Pallice exported 21,000 tons of wheat to China.
According to USDA data for the 2024/25 season, the area planted with winter wheat in the United States is 13.9 million hectares (-6% compared to 2023/24).
The Association of Soybean and Corn Producers in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso forecasts a soybean production of 35.8 million tons in 2023/24 (compared to 45.6 million tons in 2022/23). Conab predicts a soybean production of 40.2 million tons in the state.
According to FAS USDA's forecast for 2023/24, Argentina's soybean production is projected to reach 50.5 million tons (20.5 in 2022/23). The country's record was set in 2018/19 at 55.8 million tons. Argentina's soybean exports in 2023/24 are expected to reach 6 million tons.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture in India, there are no plans to import wheat into the country, given the expected production of 114 million tons. Wheat reserves in state warehouses as of April 1, 2024, are expected to be above the required minimum at 7.46 million tons.
