During the period from 01.07.2023 to 30.04.2024, the total amount of grain exported from Russia will be 67 million tons for the entire season, or an additional 9.2 million tons by the end of it. The export potential of wheat is 55 million tons, with an additional 7.8 million tons remaining.

In April, 2.377 million tons of wheat were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, which is 16% more than in April 2023. The largest customers were Egypt with 553,000 tons, Saudi Arabia with 453,200 tons, and Bangladesh with 212,700 tons.

During the period from 01.07.2023 to 06.05.2024, Ukraine exported 41.989 million tons of grain /42.637 million tons the previous year/, including 624,000 tons in May /761,000 tons/. Wheat exports amounted to 16.002 million tons /224,000 tons/, barley exports were 2.214 million tons /12,000 tons/, and corn exports reached 23.292 million tons /386,000 tons/.

In April, Ukraine exported 628,000 tons of sunseed oil /+15% compared to April 2023/. From the beginning of the season, exports amounted to 4.4 million tons /3.7 million tons/. The total export of sunseed oil from Ukraine for the entire 2023/24 season is 6 million tons.

According to the forecast of the European Commission for 2024/25, the rapeseed production in the EU will be 19.4 million tons /19.8 million in 2023/24/, including 4.435 million tons from France /4.269/, 4.06 million tons from Germany /4.269/, 3.486 million tons from Poland /3.686/, 1.739 million tons from Romania /1.945/, and 1.146 million tons from the Czech Republic /1.293/.

According to data from the Canadian Grain Commission, from the beginning of the season until 28.04.2024, Canada exported 18.7 million tons of wheat /19.5 million tons the previous year, including 2.7 million tons of durum /-36%/. Barley exports amounted to 1.6 million tons /-36%/, corn exports reached 0.8 million tons /-43%/. Canola exports reached 4.1 million tons /6.7/, and soybean exports were 3.2 million tons /3/.

During the period from 01.08.2023 to 31.03.2024, Canada exported 29.3 million tons of grains and oilseeds /-11% compared to the previous year, including 14.3 million tons of soft wheat /13.5/, 1.3 million tons of hard wheat /3.6/, 1.4 million tons of barley /2.2/, 4.1 million tons of canola /6.0/, and 3.2 million tons of soybeans /3.0/. The largest customers for soft wheat were China, Indonesia, Japan, and Bangladesh, while Italy, Algeria, and Morocco were major buyers of hard wheat.

The government of Egypt has already purchased 1.5 million tons of wheat from local producers, which is 43% of the planned 3.5 million tons for the season.

Algeria has purchased around 160,000 tons of corn with delivery in May without disclosing the price of the deal.

In the first quarter of 2024, global trade in rapeseed and canola reached 4.3 million tons, which is 15% less than in 2023 according to Oil World data. In March, exports decreased from Australia, Canada, Ukraine, Uruguay, and Russia, whose share in global exports is 95%. Exports from Australia amounted to 1.7 million tons /1.9/, 1.5 million tons from Canada /2.5/, 0.1 million tons from Uruguay /0.3/, 0.2 million tons from Russia /0.2/, and 0.79 million tons from Ukraine /0.31/. The largest buyers during the period were the EU with 1.7 million tons /1.18/ and China with 1.1 million tons /1.7/.
