This year's monsoon season in India is expected to bring rainfall which will be close to the average long-term level. Rain starts in June and the future wheat yield depends heavily on that. This season's domestic soybean oil consumption will be 320,000 tons (+10.3%).
Japan has announced a regular auction for the purchase of 95,555 tons of wheat from the USA and Canada.
As of 16.04.2017, 13% of the planned spring wheat areas in the USA have been sowed versus 25% last year and an average of 21% over the past five years. 54% of the winter wheat crops are in good and excellent condition (53% a week earlier and 57% a year earlier) while 33% (34% and 34%) are in satisfactory condition and 13% (13% and 10%) are in poor or very poor condition. 3% of the planned corn areas (12% and9%) were sowed in the past week.
On 17.04.2017, the authorities in China carried out an auction for the sale of 2.66 mln tons of wheat from the national reserve. The actual sales included 567,400 tons of wheat at the average price of 363.86 USD/ton.
South Korean company NOFI bought 55,000 tons of wheat fodder of random origin at 192.74 USD/ton to be delivered in August.
