China has decreased grain import

Oil World reports that key grains import in China (wheat, corn, barley, sorghum) in December 2016 went down to 964,000 tons compared with 1.7 mln tons in December 2015.

Sorghum is the biggest loser – 196,000 tons (857 000) while barley was 404 000 tons (457 000). Meanwhile, wheat purchase went up to 223,000 tons (214 000) with corn up to 141,000 tons (133,000).

Import drop is due to increased demand for domestic produce as well as partial reduction in grain stocks.

DDGS import went down to 70,000 tons (-83% or 420,000 tons). In 2016, DDGS import in China was 3.07 mln tons (6.8).

Approximately 9 mln tons of soybean were imported in China in December compared with 9.12 mln tons in December 2015. 8.1 mln tons of soybean (6.6) were delivered from the USA, 315,000 tons from Brazil (1.02) and 0 tons from Argentina (866,000).

Rapeseed import in China was 241,000 tons in December (314,000) including 222,000 tons from Canada (305,000). Rapeseed import will be 1.3 – 1.5 mln tons between January and March 2017 compared with 0.92 mln tons a year earlier.
