Brazil: Soybean harvested at a faster pace than last year

The Institute of Agricultural Economics in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso reported that 16% of soybean areas in the state were harvested before January 27, 2017.

Mato Grosso is the main soybean producer state in Brazil. 8% of soybean areas were harvested a year ago with 10 – 12% on average for the past five years.

25% of harvested soybean areas were expected before the end of January in view of the early sowing. Delay in plans is due the rain in the past couple of weeks. They lead to a fall in the production and the quality of the produce. Yield in the state will be record high provided rain stops in the next few weeks.

Harvest has started in the state of Parana where 1% of the areas is harvested.
