USDA Lowered Its Estimate On World Wheat Stocks

USDA lowered in its February report its estimate on the world wheat supply and stocks during the current season.

World wheat production in 2016 – 2017 will be 748.24 mln tons, which is 4.2 mln tons less than the January forecast. Despite the decline, the result is much over than last season's crop – 735.6 mln tons. Wheat crop in India has been lowered by 3 mln tons to 87 mln tons, which is much lower than the official forecast made by the country's Ministry of Agriculture. Wheat crop forecast in Kazakhstan has been lowered by 1.5 mln tons to 14.99 mln tons.

World wheat export will be 179 mln tons – no change on the January forecast and 6.2 mln tons more than the previous season. The forecast for wheat export from the USA has been increased by 1.36 mln tons up to 27.9 mln tons due to the starong start of the season. Export from Russia has been lowered by 0.5 mln tons to 28.5 mln tons.

Wheat consumption for fodder purposes has increased mainly in Vietnam +1.3 mln tons and Китай +1 mln tons.

World wheat ending stocks have dropped by 4.7 mln tons versus the January forecast down to 248.6 mln tons, which is 7.8 mln tons higher than last year's result.

Wheat ending stocks in Russia have jumped by 0.5 mln tons to 11.1 mln tons, which is almost twice as much as 2015 – 2016.
