British Wheat Export Declined In December

93,425 tons of wheat were exported from Great Britain in December 2016, which has been the lowest monthly level since the beginning of 2016 – 2017, although it is much higher than the export in December 2015.

The Netherlands was the biggest British wheat buyer with 26,697 tons followed by Algeria with 25,059 tons.

173,456 tons of wheat were imported in Britain in December 2016, which has been the highest level since the start of the season. Denmark was the biggest supplier with 65,067 tons.

840,175 tons of wheat have been imported in the country since the start of the season (863,030 tons a year earlier).

Corn and barley import into Britain has decreased over the season. Corn import in the country reached 890,600 tons (-8%) in the first half of the season while barley import was 59,300 tons (-36%).

France remained the biggest corn supplier with 253,200 tons (370,900) followed by Romania with 162,200 tons (70,500), the USA with 98,500 tons (2,600), Ukraine with 46 ,700 tons (113,300) and Russia with 5,300 tons (49,600).

The Republic of Ireland is traditionally the biggest barley supplier.
