The large number is due to the bad weather and railway issues with grain transportaion. As of February 14, 2017, 26 ships are waiting. 12 of them have been anchored there for more than three weeks. The standard number of ships waiting at a port is 18.
Algeria has purchased 200 – 225,000 tons of hard wheat to be delivered in March or April.
Winter crop condition in France is worse than last year, but still better than the average level for the past five years.As of February 13, 2017, 92% of soft wheat crops are in a good or excellent condition (94% a year earlier); the same condition goes for 85% (90%) of the hard wheat and 91% (95%) of the barley. 8% of the planned areas for the sowing of spring barley have been completed (5%).
5.172 mln tons of grain and the same amount of flour have been exported from Kazakhstan since the beginning of the current 2016 - 2017 season. Export was 8.35 85% (90%) in 2015 - 2016.
Morocco has purchased 263,640 tons of soft wheat within the EU quota.
Kenya approved the import of 450,000 tons of corn from Ukraine at 260 – 270 USD/ton C&F. This has been the biggest delievery from Ukraine to Kenya since 2011.
On February 19, 2017 Lybia carried out an auction for the purchase of 100,000 tons of milling wheat and 50,000 tons of hard wheat to be delivered in May.
