USA: Soft Wheat Marks Weak Export Season

The past seven days were not the best week for American soft wheat export, despite export reaching the expected 300 – 500,000 tons.

Demand appered weak despite the fall in soft wheat price during the week.

Since the start of the season, the total SRW sales have been 26.5% lower than the previous season. Meanwhile, soft white wheat sales as well as durum sales are running faster than last season's tempo. Hard winter wheat sales are almost 100% higher than 2015 – 2016.

Since the start of the season, the total amount of sales on all types of American wheat has been 37.2% higher than last season.

In the week between February 17 and 23, the biggest American wheat buyers were Mexico with 64,500 tons, The Philippines with 58,100 tons, Japan with 56,000 tons, Algeria with 50,000 tons and Guatemala with 29,000 tons. An unspecified buyer cancelled an earlier contract for 40,400 tons while French West Indies cancelled the puchase of 17,300 tons.

he Philippines with 85,600 tons, Mexico with 71,500 tons, Japan with 67,500 tons, Nigeria with 66,700 tons, Mozambique with 45,800 tons and Morocco with 30 600 tons were the biggest wheat buyers of the week.
