Soybean Areas In The USA Will Be Record High In 2017 At The Expense Of Corn And Wheat

During the current year, American farmers will reduce corn and wheat areas at the expense of soybean. Soybean will be sowed on record high areas according to Allendale Inc.

88.825 mln acres of soybean will be sowed or 5.392 mln acres more than last year. Soybean yield, however, will decrease due to lower production level. The average soybean production in the USA was record high in 2016 – 52.1 bushel/acre, which was 4 bushel/acre higher than the previous record.

Corn areas will go down to 90.018 mln acres (-3.986).

Wheat areas will go down to their lowest level since 1919 – 45.967 mln acres (-4.187).

In 2017, the winter soft red wheat yield in the USA will drop to its lowest level since 2010 – 8.54 mln tons with an average level of 11.64 mln tons fpr the past five years.

The winter white wheat yield will drop by 29% versus 2016 to 4.25 mln tons.
