France: Barley Sowing Tempo Remains Slow

Barley sowing in France has been rather slow for the past two weeks due the rain. Only 5% of the planned areas were sowed in the past seven days, FranceAgriMer reported.

As of March 13, 2017, 41% of the palanned barley areas have been sowed, which is 3% less than the same period of last year.

Winter wheat crop condition remained unchanged in the past week. 92% of the areas are in good or excellent condition (92% a week earlier and 93% a year ago); the numbers for the hard wheat are 81% (81% and 88%) while winter barley rates at 87% (88% and 91%).
