Canadian Wheat Export 18% Lower Than Last Year

416,600 tons of wheat were exported from Canada between March 6 and March 12, which is lower than the average level for the past five weeks, Canadian Grain Commission reported.

10.7 mln tons of wheat have been exported from Canada since the start of the current season, which is 18% less than the previous year. Soft wheat export has dropped by 19% to 8.2 mln tons while hard wheat export decreased by 14% to 2.6 mln tons.

As a result of the slow export tempo, USDA has reduced its forecast on the annual export to 20.5 mln tons versus 21 mln tons in the February forecast and 22.134 mln tons in 2015 – 2016.
