Hot Weather In India Will Not Affect Wheat Production

Wheat production in India will not be affected by the hot weather, because crops have already developed well enough in the main areas and are not vulnerable.

Temperatures soared over the past week, which spurred fears of damage. Crops in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are almost ripe. Harvesting has already started in some parts of Haryana.

Yield in the country was 92.29 mln tons last year, according to the contry's Ministry of Agriculture. It is estimated at 96.6 mln tons this year. Some analysts expect yield of up to 100 mln tons.
