Pakistan: Wheat Yield Might Go Down To 25.2 Mln Tons

Over the current season, wheat yield in Pakistan might go down to 25.2 mln tons, which is 0.4 mln tons less than the previous year, according to a forecast by FAS USDA.

The dry weather is the reason for the decline in wheat areas this season to 9.05 mln hectares (9.2 mln hectares in 2016 – 2017). However, yield has remained high due to fertiliser use as weel as the rainfall in January and February.

The export of wheat and wheat by-products in the new season will retain its current season level - 0.6 mln tons. 0.4 mln tons of wheat will be exported to Afghanistan.
