1.25 Mln Tons Of Corn Imported In The UK Since The Start Of The Season

1.25 mln tons of corn were imported in the UK over the first seven months of the current season, which matches last season's index, according to HGCA information.

Compared with last year, corn import from other EU countries has grown significantly, while import from third countries has decreased, including import from Ukraine.

The biggest corn importers were France with 289,000 tons (458,000), Romania with 234,000 tons (115,000), Poland with 143,000 tons (4,000), Argentina with 118,000 tons (132,000) and Russia with 55,000 tons (49,000).

In February, 99,130 tons of wheat were exported from the UK versus 91,140 tons in January. The result was lower than the February 2016 one. Between July and February, import reached 1.26 mln tons (1.6).

136,750 tons of wheat (151,890) were imported in the country in February while the number for the first eight months of the season is 1.13 mln tons of wheat (1.03).
