Paraguay will export soybean by 11% less during the new season

According to USDA estimate in 2017 - 2018 areas under soybean cultivation in Paraguay will decline by 3% to 3.35 mln.ha. Second crop soybean areas are on decrease and transferred to the more profitable corn.

So the soybean yield in the country will reach 9.4 mln. tonnes in 2017 - 2018, compared to 10.2 mln. tonnes for the current season - a record achievement.

In the new season the soybean export will decrease by 11% to 5.5 mln. tonnes compared to 2016 - 2017, given 6.25 mln. tonnes for the current season. Higher demand will come from Turkey, Mexico and Argentina. During the current season the main buyers of soybean from Paraguay are the EU - 25% share, Russia - 18%, Argentina - 12%, Turkey - 11%, Brazil - 7%, Mexico - 6% and South Africa - 5%.
