From the beginning of the wheat purchase campaign in Egypt - April 2017, GASC has purchased 110,000 tonnes of crops from farmers, compared to 129,000 tonnes a year earlier. The plan is for purchases of 3.8 mln. tonnes.

On 26.04.2017 а group of private Israeli companies purchased 70,000 - 80,000 tonnes of corn, 30,000 tonnes of forage wheat and 20 000 tonnes of forage barley. The price of the corn is the value of the September futures in Chicago + 74-78 cents/bushel, C&F, of the wheat 172.5-175 USD/mt C&F, the barley 164.5 - 165 USD/mt C&F. According to traders the corn will be delivered from South America, and the wheat and the barley from the Black Sea region.

From the beginning of the season until 26.04.2017. 36.45 mln. tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine, 3.27 million tonnes more than in the same period last year. According to data of the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture wheat export has reached 15.49 mln. tonnes (+1.62), barley 5.13 mln. tonnes (+1.04), corn 15.62 mln. tonnes (+0.61). For the period 1 - 26 April, 2.59 mln. tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine.

On 26.04.2017 Algeria purchased 250,000 tonnes of durum wheat, probably from Canada, at a price of 250 USD/mt, C&F.

Since the beginning of the current season, thatstarted in October 2016, 452,600 tonnes of wheat have been imported in the South African Republic, which is 58.9% less than last season, according to SAGIS. Now deliveries are mainly from Germany, and last season from Russia. For the first 29 weeks of the current season, 163,700 tonnes of wheat (179,800 tonnes a year earlier) have been delivered from Germany and 53,100 tonnes (511,400) from Russia. According to the latest USDA forecast, during the season wheat import in the country will be over 1.7 million tonness, which is 22.7% less than last year.

According to Oil World, during the period January - March 2017, import of soybean meal into the EU decreased to 4.86 mln. tonnes (5.17). The largest suppliers were Argentina 2.44 mln. tonnes (2.94), Brazil 1.8 mln. tonnes (1.82), the US 130,000 tonnes (43 000), India 154,000 tonnes (0). For the period September - March 2016 - 2017, purchases of soybean meal from the EU amount to 10.9 mln. tonnes (-1.35 million tonnes compared to the previous year).
