USA: Export sales of wheat are very poor

Weekly export sales of wheat from the US, crop 2016 are much poorer than the expected 300 000 – 500 000 tonnes and amount to 61 670 tonnes.

This is the lowest level from the beginning of June 2016. In the week, only soft wheat sales were negative due to refusals. Since the beginning of the season sales have been 24% lower than last year. Since the beginning of the season, US wheat sales have been 38.5% higher than last year (40.7% a week earlier).

Forward sales of wheat of new crop  are not very active. Until 20.04.2017 only 1,881 mln. tonnes of wheat were sold, which is 21.7% less than the previous year.

In the past week, the largest buyers of US wheat were Japan 82 000 tonnes, Yemen 67 300 tonnes, China 62 700 tonnes, Philippines 56 500 tonnes and Guatemala 41 100 tonnes. From old purchases, an unknown buyer refused 310 200 tonnes, Peru 20 000 tonnes and Italy 9 000 tonnes.

The largest recipients of grain during the week are the Philippines 106 500 tonnes, Taiwan 96 000 tonnes, Mexico 71 600 tonnes, Nigeria 68 800 tonnes, Japan 67 200 tonnes and China 62 700 tonnes.
