IGC raised its forecast on world's grain stocks

IGC raised its forecast on world's stocks and the transtional grain stocks forthe current and coming seasons.

The forecast for the world's grain stocks for the current season was raised by 6 mln.tonnes to 2,111 mln.tonnes which is a record high level. Growth is due to large yields in the southern hemisphere. Compared to last season, growth is 5%.

Despite high demand for grain, previous stocks peaked at 516 million tonnes (+ 8%), by 3 mln. tonnes more than the March forecast.

The world grain trade forecast for the current season is expected to be by 2 mln. Tonnes higher, because India will import more wheat. Trade will reach 345 mln. tonnes, which is 1 mln. tonnes less than the record high reached last year.

The forecast for the world grain yields in 2017 - 2018 was increased. From 2 050 mln. tonnes in the March forecast to 2,054 mln. tonnes in April, incl. wheat 736 mln. tonnes (735), corn 1 026 mln. tonnes (1 024).

World consumption of grain in 2017 - 2018 will amount to  2 079 mln. tonnes (2 079 mln. and 2 075 mln. tonnes).

Previos world grain stocks at the end of 2017 - 2018 will amopunt to 491 mln. tonnes (484 and 516), incl. wheat 239 mln. tonnes (234 and 240) and corn 1 046 mln. tonnes (1 044 and 1 041).

World grain trade with grain in the new season will reach 342 mln.tonnes (340 and 345).
