2.51 mln. tonnes of corn from the 2012 - 2013 were offered. 80% of the grain were actually sold at price of 370,200 tonnes of 2012 crop - 206.66 USD/mt and 1.82 mln. tonnes 2012 - 199.99 USD/mt. Auction prices are above market expectations. On May 9th, 2017 a second auction for the sale of 859,500 tonnes of corn from the 2014 crop will be carried out.
Brazil's Foreign Trade Chamber Camex postponed the vote on import duty on bioethanol for June.
During the first nine months of the season for flour 4.67 mln. tonnes of wheat were processed in the UK, up by 13% than the previous year and this has been the highest achievement since 1997. For the whole season, processed wheat is expected to reach 5.35 mln. tonnes.
Egypt's state-owned company bought 30,000 tonnes of soybean oil at an auction held on 2 May 2017. Supplier is ADM at price of 776.5 USD/mt, C&F and delivery 20.06 - 10.07.2017. The auction also offered sunflower oil, but no deal was reported of.
As of 3 May 2017 in Ukraine the areas under sunflower cultivation amount to 3.09 mln. ha or 57% of the planned areas, which are 5.39 mln. ha. The lag compared to last year is 13%. 465.9 thousand hectares or 24% of the forecast - 1.948 mln. ha are under cultivation of soybean. The lag compared to last year has fallen to 47%. As of 2 May 2016 n Ukraine 882 000 hectares were sown with soybean.
Favorable natural conditions in Argentina made it possible the harvest of soybean and corn to be speeded up, according to data from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange. As of 4 May.2017 with corn are sown 29% of the areas and 49% of soybean areas. 12.3 mln. tonnes of corn and 30.6 mln. tonnes of soybean were harvested. The forecast for the corn yield remains 37 mln. tonnes, up by 23% compared to the previous year. The forecast for soybean yield remains unchanged - 56.5 mln. tonnes.
Last week, the European Commission confirmed import licenses for Ukrainian wheat - 118,764 tonnes within the tariff quota. Since the beginning of the year, licenses have reached 957,306 tonnes or 99.7% of the quota. Import licenses for wheat from other non-EU countries amount to 7,870 tonnes for the period. Since the beginning of the year, the quota has been reached to 6.6% or 157 654 tonnes.
Since the beginning of the season, EU export of common wheat have reached 20.7 mln. tonnes. The export lag compared to last year is 19% , given 18% a week earlier.
On 29 May 2017 the Government of Turkey increased the import duty on sunflower oil from 360 USD/mt to 396 USD /mt. In anticipation of this move, in March Turkish processors bought 157,000 tonnes of sunflower. Over the last 4 months, sunflower processing in Turkey has reached 500,000 tonnes. During the period April - September 2017 the import of sunflower oil in the country is expected to reach 0.34 mln. tonnes (0.3).
