During the period January - March 2017, the global export of rapeseed rises by 36%

According to new data of Oil World, during the period January - March 2017, the global export of rapeseed/canola rises by 36% up to 5 mln. tonnes compared to the previous year.

Poor crop yields in the EU and China in 2016 as well as increased demand in the United States, Japan and the UAE influenced positively the export results.

In particular, canola export from Canada reached 3.2 mln. tonnes during the reported period (+ 21% for the year), from Australia 1.6 mln. tonnes (+ 200%). Canadian canola stocks are now at a high level, which will hamper domestic processing and export until the end of the season.

According to experts’ forecasts, in 2016 – 2017, global rapeseed export will reach a record of 15.8 mln. tonnes, by 1.35 mln. tonnes more than the previous season. Biggest growth is China- 4.2 mln. tonnes (4.12) and the EU 4.1 mln. tonnes (3.5).
