Global stocks of barley will reach a 30 years low in 2017-2018

Analysts of USDA prognosticate, that in 2017 – 2018 global ending stocks of barley will decrease only to 17.5 mln. tonnes, by 29% less than the current season as this would be a 30 years low

During the season, areas under barley cultivation in the world will decrease by 960,000 ha to 4.72 mln. ha, which will be the lowest figure from 1960 until now.

Areas under barley cultivation in the US will drop to 2.5 mln. acres, the lowest level since 1910 . Reductions of the crops are expected in Australia, Canada, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Farmers will sow more profitable crops such as oats, sorghum and wheat.
