Germany lowers its forecast on grain yields

The Union of German cooperatives (DRV) lowered its forecast for grain yields in Germany for the current season from 46.7 mln. tonnes down to 45.4 mln. tonnes.

Despite the decline, the yields will be higher than last year's - 45.2 mln. tonnes.

Now the crops are in good and satisfactory condition. For the last weeks there have been rainfalls in many regions of the country, but in some places the moisture deficit remains.

The new wheat crop will be 25 mln. tonnes (+ 1.6% compared to last year), winter barley 8.7 mln. tonnes (-3.7%), spring barley 1.9 mln. tonnes (+ 5.5%), corn 3.7 mln. tonnes (+ 2.3%).
