China increases the barley import and decreases the corn export in April

China increases the barley import and decreases the corn export in April, according to the customs authorities of the country.

Barley import increases to 1.087 million tonnes for the month (+ 338% compared to April 2016). The main supplier was Australia 846 800 tonnes followed by Canada - 238 300 tonnes.

Import of corn reaches 3 000 tonnes (-99%).

Import of wheat remains at the level of April 2016 - 603 000 tonnes. Major suppliers were Australia 320,600 tonnes, USA 227,200 tonnes, Kazakhstan 40,400 tonnes, Canada 12,800 tonnes, and Russia 2,000 tonnes.

On May 23rd, 2017 the government of China held an auction for the sale of 3.086 million tonnes of corn from the state reserves -  crops 2009 - 2016. 212,900 tonnes of corn were sold at price of 361.69 USD / mt. An auction for the sale of 149,400 tonnes of wheat, crop 2013 was held as well. Only 3 200 tonnes of wheat were auctioned.
