IGC raised its forecast for the global grain yield by yet another 8 mln. tonnes

IGC raised again its forecats for the global grain yield in the current season.

Global grain production in the current season will reach 2,120 million tonnes, up by 8 million tonnes compared to the previous forecast, and 8% more than the 2015-2016 crop.

Grain consumption in the world will reach the record 2,087 million tonnes, ending stocks continue to grow for the fourth consecutive season up to 513 million tonnes.

Global trade will reach all time highs - 349 million tonnes (+3 million tonnes).

In the new season grain crop remains almost unchanged at 2,053 million tonnes.

Global grain consumption increased by 7 million tonnes to 2 086 million tonnes.

Ending grain stocks of will drop to 479 million tonnes in the new season, while the consumption - stocks ratio will decrease by 2% to 23%, compared to the current season.

Global grain trade will amount to 246 million tonnes.

IGC forecasts grain crop in Russia in 2017 - 2018 in amount of 108.4 million tonnes, given 108.1 million tonnes a month earlier. The result is by 5.8 million tonnes less than the record set in the current season. The wheat crop will be 67 million tonnes (-5.5 million tonnes compared to the current year). Grain consumption in Russia will be 70.9 million tonnes (70.6 million tonnes in the previous forecast and 72.3 million tonnes in the current year). Consumption of wheat is estimated at 38.8 million tonnes (38.7 and 40.0). Export of grain from Russia remained unchanged at 39.4 million tonnes (39.4 and 36.6), incl. Wheat - 29.6 million tonnes (29.6 and 27.4 tonnes). Transitional grain stocks declined to 12.5 million tonnes (13.7 and 13.6), incl. wheat - 10.6 million tonnes (11.7 and 11.4).
