Germany raises its forecast for wheat and rapeseed yields

The German Farmers' Association /DBV/ raised its forecast for wheat and rapeseed yields in the country due to the rainfalls.

In the current season, wheat yield will reach 25.2 million tonnes given a May forecast of 24.98 million tonnes, up by 3% compared to the previous year. The winter rapeseed yield will be 4.78 million tonnes (4.68 million tons and + 4.7%).

Grain crops are in good and satisfactory condition. Worsening of the crops’ condition is not expected as heavy rainfalls are over.

In the southern parts of Germany, the barley harvest will begin at the end of June. Harvest of winter barley used mainly for forage will reach 8.74 million tonnes, which is 2.3% less than the previous year. Harvest of spring barley will grow by 7.4% to 1.9 million tonnes.

Corn yield will decrease by 5.7% to 3.78 million tonnes given  areas of 392,000 hectares (+ 5.7%).
