Low yields are expected in Spain, due to drought

Agri-food Cooperatives Spain published its first forecast for the grain crop in the country for the current year that will reach 15.2 million tonnes - the fifth lowest crop since 1990.

The result will be by 35% less than last year and 26% less than the average for the past three years.

The reason for the reduction is the low rainfall during vegetation period.

Crop of soft wheat will be 3.692 million tonnes (7.234 million tonnes in the previous year), hard wheat - 1.12 million tonnes (1.18), barley - 5.73 million tonnes (9.405), corn -  3.223 million tonnes (3,598) .
