China increases wheat and barley import in May as the corn import decreases

During the month, wheat import reached 502,800 tonnes (+ 14% compared to May 2016), incl. from the US 289,000 tonnes (+ 95%) and from Australia 157,500 tonnes (-7%).

Import of barley grew to 625,900 tonnes (+ 22%), incl. from Australia 555,300 tonnes (+ 46%).

Import of corn to 42,200 tonnes (-96%), incl. from Ukraine 22,300 tonnes (-98%) and the US 10,600 tonnes (+ 70%).

On June 23rd 2017 the authorities in China held an auction for the sale of 2.338 million tonnes of corn, 2011 – 2013 crop, from the state reserve. 1.30 million tonnes of corn from the 2013 crop were sold at average price of 202.9 USD / mt.
