MARS lowers its forecast on crops'yields in Europe in 2017

In France, the production of winter grain crops will be below the average for the past five years. Losses in Spain are also big. In Germany and Poland the drought had a relatively limited impact on the crops.

Average EU soft wheat yield will be 5.86 mt/ ha at 5.91 mt / ha in the May forecast and 6.05 mt / ha in the April forecast.

The forecast for average barley yield is lowered to 4.7 mt/ ha of 4.76 mt / ha in the May forecast.

Corn yield is expected to be lower as well 7.14 mt / ha (7.15).

The rape yield is increased from 3.17 mt/ ha to 3.22 mt/ ha, below the level of the last five years.

MARS corrected its forecasts for crop yields in Ukraine in the new season. Wheat yield is expected to reach 3.91 mt/ ha at 4.21 mt/ ha in 2016, and an average of 3.69 mt/ ha for the past five years. The yield of barley will be 3.02 mt/ ha (3.30 and 2.73), that of corn 6.00 mt/ ha  (6.60 and 5.84) and of sunflower 2.11 mt/ ha (2.24 and 2.04).
