India overfulfils the plan for purchase of wheat by the state fund by 34%

The wheat purchasing campaign of the state fund FCI is over. 30.8 million tonnes of wheat were purchased from local farmers, by 34% more that the previous season.

FCI is currently working on a plan to resell wheat in order to regulate prices. According to it,  5 to 6 million tonnes of wheat should be sold. In 2016 -2017, 4.6 million tonnes of wheat were sold after this plan.

As of June 1st 2017, FCI has on hand 33.4 million tonnes of wheat given the legal minimum of 24.58 million tonnes.
