Canada: Despite the decline in wheat crop its export will increase

In 2017 – 2018 wheat production in Canada may reach 22.7 million tonnes, by 1.3 million tonnes less than the June forecast and by 5% less than the previous year, according to Agriculture and AgriFood Canada (AAFC).

The decline in production is linked to smaller areas under wheat cultivation - a 10% decrease for winter wheat and a 2% increase for spring wheat fields and a lower yield of 11%.

High opening grain stocks in Canada and reduced consumption allow export to increase by 1 million tonnes to 16.6 million tonnes.
