Forecast for corn and wheat crops in the EU got lowered due to drought

Analysts of MARS lowered their forecast for corn crops in 2017 in the EU in the latest report by 0.31 mt/ha down to 6.83 mt/ha given a yield of 7.07 mt/ha in 2016 and average yield of 6.88 mt/ha.

According to analysts, the perspectives for grain production in European countries are worsening against the backdrop of drought in some southern and eastern regions of the EU.

 

The yields for Romania have been reduced by 0.46 mt/ ha to 3.74 mt / ha.

 

Daily temperatures in Austria are 2 to 4 degrees higher than the average, and the rainfall is half the norm and therefore the corn crops are in poor condition.

 

Estimates for soft wheat yields are reduced by 0.01 mt / ha to 5.85 mt / ha. Yields in France are increased by 0.07 mt / ha to 6.84 mt / ha. Yields of hard wheat were up 2.4% to 3.41mt / ha, 1.8% more than the average for the past five years.

 

Other analysts note that wheat yields in France are much better than initial expectations.

 

Yields of winter barley were increased by 0.9% to 5.73 mt / ha, which is 0.9% above the average for the past five years.
