Germany lowers wheat, barley and rapeseed production

Winter wheat production in Germany in 2017 will decrease by 3% compared to the previous year down to 23.4 million tonnes according to DBV.

The winter rapeseed crop will decrease by 6% to 4.3 million tonnes.

Germany is the second largest wheat producer in the EU and the major rapeseed producer.

Precipitation in recent weeks reduced yields and quality of wheat. Wheat harvested during the period is for forage-only. Due to the rainfall, the rapeseed's fatty content fell, which is at an average of 40%.
