Wheat crop in Australia will fall by 34%

ABARE lowered its forecast for wheat production in 2017 – 2018 compared to the previous forecast by 10% down to 21.64 million tonnes - a 8 year low.

Compared to the record of 2016 - 2017 wheat production declined by 34%.

Wheat crops in the productive areas of Australia has been severely damaged by drought. In many places the rainfall was half of the seasonal norm. Particularly the states on the east coast - New South Wales and Queensland are hit hard, the crop will fall by 45%.

The crop of canola in the new season is reduced from 3.69 million tonnes last year to 2.75 million tonnes in the new season.
