Forecast for corn yield in the EU is raised

In its September report MARS raised their forecast for average corn yield in the EU in 2017 from 6.93 to 6.99 mt/ha.

The result is 1.4% higher than the average for the past five years, but 2.2% less than the result in 2016.

Increase in yields are for France and Romania, which are key producers in the EU, with a decrease for Spain, Croatia and other countries hit by drought.

Related wheat yields are raised to 5.86 mt/ ha (5.85), which is above the average of five years.

Sunflower yields will be 2.11 mt/ ha (1.97 and + 8.5%), with growth for Romania.

The yields of rapeseed declined to 3.25 mt/ ha (3.27), but remained above the average over the past five years.
